Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. To achieve certification, companies must demonstrate high social and environmental performance, make a legal commitment within their corporate governance structure and exhibit transparency in allowing performance measurement data to be publicly available. In short, it’s to put people and planet before profit in every aspect of your operation.
Given XeroE’s raison d’etre is to use zero tailpipe transport modes to improve air quality in urban environments, it made perfect sense to seek B Corp accreditation, which we duly achieved in 2021 with the highest score globally in the courier category of 108.8.
We also scored in the top 5% of B Corps globally in the governance sector for their ‘Best for the world’ rankings (area score 21.7) alongside our partners Bethnal Green ventures. Full list https://www.bcorporation.net/en-us/best-for-the-world-2022-governance
XeroE has become something of a B Corp trailblazer in prompting B Labs to create two new Impact Business Models reflecting its pioneering work in the deliveries space and its proprietary emissions calculator and reporting tool developed in partnership with Imperial College London.
XeroE will earn the Resource Conservation Impact Business Model for human powered bike deliveries and the Renewable/Cleaner-Burning Energy Impact Business Model for electric vehicle deliveries. These new models set a high benchmark for future B Corp applicants, driving the continual development of better business practices.
We’re very proud to be rubbing shoulders with leading brands such Riverford, Oddbox, Brewgooder, Too good to go and Bio bean alongside 165 UK B Corps in the Best for the world category and contributing to making the UK a high scoring B Corp hotspot. 2022 has also been a milestone for B Corp UK, celebrating the 1000th UK company to achieve accreditation.
To celebrate, B Corp UK threw a party at the Natural History Museum which was a brilliant event. Hearing the success stories, meeting founders and sharing ideas was an inspiration to everyone who attended. We were tasked with the important job of delivering the giant B, 100% sustainably and emission-free. Weighing in at a whopping 100kg, we didn't make Peter pedal to SW7, instead opting for one of our electric vans.
We picked up some great products from Upcircle (waste reducing tube squeezer), Divine (co-owned by cocoa farmers) chocolate, Parla (toothpaste tabs), Pip and Nut (dark chocolate peanut cup) and Liobites (freeze dried fruit crisps). We look forward to contributing to the strength of the B Corp community as it grows and to helping our fellow B Corps deliver their products with as much consideration for environmental impact as they apply to sourcing and production.
There’s enormous appetite for emission-free delivery in this cohort of businesses and XeroE is ready to meet that demand.
